Raw sports training

Here are some questions that I was asked later this summer by a mens health fitness magazine ... Q&A here we goooooooooo !

1)What ingredients should you put into a basic salad and what is it going to do for you ?

The base of any basic salad has to be without doubt ' leafy green' vegetables. I'm not talking about a side salad of iceberg lettuce which has been left in the fridge for 3 days, which you bought from the supermarket. I'm talking about the fresh organic deep green leafy types like Spinach, Kale, Chard, Basil, Little Gem Lettuce, Rocket, Romaine and Corn Salad. Ideally the most nutritious salads would be grown by your own loving hands, although buying them from your local organic fruit and veg shop is the next best thing. So how do these puny little lettuce leaves give you the vital energy, supreme power and increased strength to keep you in shape and build muscles on your bones as hard as rocks ?

Well, to understand this thoroughly, lets take a look what rocks are made of. Rocks are made up of different types of essential minerals, which are the building blocks of all life. And where do we find the highest concentration of all these potent minerals ? In the soil of the Earth. And what grows so abundantly in highly rich mineralized soil ? You've guessed it, leafy green vegetables. Leafy green vegetables have the ability to absorb all of these life sustaining minerals from the soil and transform them into bio available Angstrom sized particles for animals and humans to eat and gain complete nourishment. Most mineral supplements sold on the market are not of ' Angstrom' size, and therefore they are not able to be absorbed by the cells in our bodies. Minerals are responsible for and activate all of our vitamins and they are the basis of all our organ and cellular structures of the body. There are 23 key minerals, including 16 major and 7 minor trace minerals. These are all needed for our bodies to function at the highest level. Minerals are used up and transformed all the time in exercise, so if we don't have the proper minerals in our system, then we don't have the cellular building blocks needed in order to repair and regenerate our tissues. This is reason why anybody wishing to gain extreme health and fitness, must add leafy green vegetables into their diet everyday.

2)What ingredients could you add for more muscle and why ?

The main ingredient one needs to build muscle is not strictly or uniquely protein but it is in fact 'intense workouts'. Excess protein actually thickens the cellular membrane and prohibits those all important minerals from entering the cell and doing it's job of building and regenerating our bodies to health and fitness. Although protein in the form of Amino acids are essential for building muscle, your body will only use what it needs and excrete the rest, so don't get worried about not having enough protein. What is essential for growth is 'Nitrogen'. Protein cannot form without Amino acids, and Amino acids are absolutely dependent on Nitrogen. In the muscle system, 'myosin' which is the principle protein in muscle, is made up of 17% Nitrogen. Foods which you can add onto your salad which contain a high source of Nitrogen are Almonds, Pine nuts, Walnuts, Peas, Beans , hulled Hemp seeds, Tomatoes, sea lettuce and Dulse Sea weed.

3)What ingredients could you add to improve your energy levels and why ?

The average person has in their body around 3- 4 oz of the mineral Potassium. Muscular people, athletes and people who engage in long term repetitive workouts have a higher amount of potassium in their bodies due to the fact that Potassium has an affinity with Oxygen, which increases tissue oxygenation. Potassium works in a dynamic synergy with Sodium. These elements work together to create a pumping action which creates vital energy on a cellular level. Potassium is essential for all energy metabolism, including the rapid firing of nerve impulses. To increase Potassium into your diet, add to your salad Sun dried black olives, Dulse, Avocados, Tomatoes, Raisins, Cucumber, Parsley and Watercress.

4)What ingredients would work in a salad that could improve focus ?

One of the essential nutrients needed for brain function is Choline. Choline is derived from Lecithin, and Lecithin is used for people with Alzcheimers disease and brain deterioration. Lecithin is found in brain and nerve fibres. Lecithin can be found in the deep chlorophyll green leaves of plants, although it is not activated in the body without enough supply of phosphorus. Foods rich in Phosphorus which can be sprinkled over a salad are soaked nuts like Brazil nuts, Walnuts, mixed seeds like pumpkin and sunflower, olives, carrots, bee pollen and all sea vegetables.

5)What things could you put into a salad that would help with weight loss ? Why would they do this instead of other things ?

The great thing about eating salads is that nutritional value is extremely high and the calorie content is relatively very low. When the body receives sufficient nutrients such as proteins, fats, vitamins and carbohydrates it essentially switches off the signals in the brain that tell you, you need to eat. Junk food, irradiated food and cooked foods are all depleted of the these life sustaining nutrients which are needed for health and rejuvenation. If you eat these types of food, the body will not register that it has taken in any nutrients that are beneficial for the body to use as fuel and growth. This will create a message saying that it needs more sustenance to fulfil its function, and this signal will make you hungry again, even if you have just eaten. Failing to respond positively to this message from the brain by not eating mineral dense foods, will again prompt you to eat more food, all the while increasing your calorie intake. If you are not working out hard enough, then this excess of calorie intake will turn to fat and you will simply put on weight. So the advantages of eating salad greens, nuts and seeds over meats, rice and pasta, is that you can eat less and gain more nutrients, and this will also be extremely beneficial to your digestive system by giving it less work to do. This means you do not even have to worry about calorie counting or over eating, as you will reach your optimal body weight naturally.

Salad for Muscle building

Large bowl filled with chopped baby spinach.
1 cup of soaked and washed walnuts
½ cup of pine nuts
1 Avocado
4 cherry tomatoes
Bunch of chopped corriander
Sprinkled handful of hulled hemp seed
Handful of Dulse seaweed
Drizzle with Olive oil and Apple cider vinegar

Salad for Energy

Large bowl filled with massaged Kale leaves.
15 black Sun dried black olives
6 Sun dried Tomatoes
1 cup of soaked and washed pumpkin seeds
2 inches of chopped cucumber
top with Watercress

Dressing to serve over Salad ~

Blend in a blender

2 Avocados
pinch of cayenne pepper
pinch of celtic salt
1 juice of a whole lemon
2 Tble of Dulse seaweed flakes
1oz of Olive oil

Salad for Brain Power

Toss in a Large bowl of mixed lettuce leaves ( little gems, basil)
Handful of chopped Brazil nuts
1 grated Carrot
1 grated Beetroot
Dash of Celtic salt
Sprinkle of poppy seeds
2 Tble of Seaweed Salad.
Drizzle in Olive Oil and Balsamic vinegar

Salad for Fat Loss

A large bowl of tossed Spinach and Arugula
2 large tomatoes diced
2 Tble of chopped chives
sprinkle of chopped parsley
2 Tble Lemon juice
1 tsp of Cumin spice
1 tsp of Celtic salt

Breaking My Fast

Oh what a joy to eat again, the gratitude I feel for food is enormous. The fast once again really made me aware of what nutrition really is about, and that is to eat in a way which supports ones connection to the Divine ('God', or if you are scared of God, then lets say 'Universe', or if that still makes you frown, then it connects you to your SELF, and that is different for everyone.

I use the word God, Divine, Universe and Self and I am comfortable with them all. Anyway what does this have to do with my fast ? Well, this is how I felt and feel right now, that I have a stronger connection to God. You see nutrition and Raw food is only a small part of a peaceful, fulfilled life. What I can say is that when I fast and eat Raw Foods I feel a sense purity, a purity which automatically points me in the direction of wanting to live in a way of peace, and it makes me feel really ALIVE. It has taken me time to feel this way, about a year and half. Until you try it, one cannot really grasp what I mean, I don't pretend to fully understand it myself and it is a continues journey whereupon I am always learning something new, and I find myself being in a way which I never thought I would, for example I remember working in a restaurant and I would get really frustrated with vegetarians, I would think 'Just eat meat and your life will be easier' because they always seemed really 'picky'. 10 years later, 'I am' a Live Food Raw Vegan, one of the pickiest eaters in the world judging by society's 'Norm'. The point to all of this is .... What was my point ? Ah yeah ... Fasting changes your life !!!

Right, enough of the soppy spiritual stuff , lets get back down to Earth and let me let out a "ROAR". Ok I am now back in my body to discuss what I ate to break my FAST !!! .. are you ready. Hang on one second... I researched a lot 'Pioneers' in raw food and Fasting to re educate my self about 'How to a break a fast' ... and everybody had a different answer... SOooooooo, I decided to ask my self " Now that I am sparkly clean inside, what do I want to En light the cells of my Body with" ... I went to my local Organic store and looked around at the fruits, as my education told me I should eat something soft, as my digestive system needs time to wake up and get going again. Scanning around it hit me, POW !!! ... ' Red Grapefruits'.. So there you have it ... exciting stuff eh .. ha.. I ate a Red Grapefruit for my breakfast. I then ate another one on my break at work at 10:30am. For lunch I did the same thing. I asked the same question in the same shop and the answer I got was " I want bananas, Flax seed, Dulse" hmmm strange combo I thought. It was a really hot day and that's when my taste buds screamed 'Coconut Water'. On the shelf next to it was 'Tahini' and my instinct said "buy it". Then I glanced in the fridge and saw a ' Soya yogurt with Probiotics', and that's when I thought, "Right, I will make a Banana shake with soya yogurt, Tahini, Ground Flax seed and coconut water". I was "ummming" and "Arrring" about the Tahini and Soya yogurt for they are not Raw, but It seemed that that's what body wanted. If I had been more prepared I could have made Raw versions of those foods. So as I was making my shake, I remembered that I had some Maca (peruvian super food for energy packed with minerals) and Bee pollen ( a MEGA nutriant rich food source) SO ... for my lunch I had a super shake, so it was not really a solid meal, which would help my digestion ease into things. IT WAS OUTSTANDINGLY TASTY and my cells were lapping all the goodness up. I was conscious of the ingredients been sweet, and wondered if that was a good thing or not, I thought maybe I should of had soft vegetables,but that was my mind thinking and not what my initial senses told me eat. I may of gone totally against any teaching of breaking a fast, but It felt like 'God' to me.

Dinner Time ~ I was not REALLY hungry, but I was kind of craving the Dulse. So I made a small green salad with chunks of Dulse, and it felt like my body sighed with delight. And that's it .. Finito !

Summary for days in take ~ I ate 2 grapefruits, 1 banana with super foods, A glass of coconut water, a small green salad with dulse.

I then had some Probiotics and Digestive enzyme supplements to help things along.

day 7 of 7 day juice fast

The final countdown,

I'm at the end of the 7 day juice fast and the feeling is BLISS. Today I woke up 05:30am and went to sun gaze. After that I meditated and practiced yoga for 4 hours in the pure sunshine. I felt totally sublime. The afternoon was spent being inspired reading 'Spiritual Nutrition' by Gabriel Cousens, whilst laying in the sun soaking up the rays.

This fast was by far the best I have completed. This is my forth fast, and the last three were much more of a physical detox, where as in this fast I also really felt my spirit being cleansed and my will power and motivation increase. I really felt like my subtle bodies were cleaned and that my physical body and subtle bodies are now able to receive more light or bio photon energy into my being.

My energy today was very high, and I felt like I could go on another few days, although I have been imaging food, and I am looking forward to taste all those different flavours again.

I have been really drawn into studying minerals at a deeper level this fast , and will write more about them soon. Actually today I have been really craving seaweed and flax seed, in which both are highly recommend foods for the electrical spark in our body. So I will be looking into increasing the amounts of these foods in my diet.

I am really over joyed at how this week went. I remember last Sunday night thinking 'Oh no, a week without food again', as I have to admit I was not really looking forward to it, although I was really feeling urge to do it. Now that's its completed, it was one of the best things Ive done this year. The thought of fasting is not as bad as actually going through it. It seems for me now that the more you do them, the easier they get, as one becomes more purified each time.

I think I will do another fast around late September going into Autumn. My aim is do a fast on each season. I totally recommend everyone to fast, it is truly life transforming and brings one into a super radiant being of health, joy and peace. For when the body is clean, the mind is able to be still, and when the mind is still, we are more able to focus on what is important in our lives rather then getting distracted by stuff we don't really need.

Next step is breaking the fast, which I will write tomorrow.

day 6 of 7 day juice fast

Phew, no work today only play ...

I was really looking forward to finish work so that I could really enjoy my last 2 days of fasting with lots of rest and peace. So what did I do ?

I went to the beach ... YEAH It was a really hot day, so I went to the beach for a swim in the sea. The sea was really cold and I was shivering for about 1/2 afterwards, then I soon got warm again. I felt really cleansed after the swim so the cold water was worth it.

I felt really amazing all day, and I couldn't believe how great I felt and that I was on 6th day of the fast. In the past fasts, by day 6 I was really weak, but not this time. This shows me that regular fasting really does clean out toxins every time. Also I have been eating raw foods now for over a year so that for sure helps. My weight has dropped to 69kg, this time I can believe it as I do feel a little thinner around my ribs. I drank the usual 3 green juices and some herbal teas and of course washed down lots of water. Being in the sunshine has really helped this fast to energize me and keep me warm.

Not to much to say really today apart from that I had a dream about making a flax seed chocolate bar which tasted like coffee but had no coffee in it, so in a few days I think I will try and make it.

Day 5 of 7 day juice fast


Today I woke up a very sleepy and heavy, and It took me a while to get out of bed at 06:00am.

I started to think about food for the first time, and I started to think of all the raw food recipes that I want to make when I'm done. Sea weed salad with Dulse was one of them, and then I was craving flax seeds for some reason, as normally I'm not a big fan of the taste, but I really want to eat them now. I checked Gabriel Cousens book ' Conscious Eating, to see what they are all about again, and he writes that they are a super conductor of electrolytes, positive ions and of course it's great brain food with omega 3 fatty acid. Grounded whole flax seed is better than flax oil, as the oil almost always is rancid.

By mid Afternoon, I was feeling much better, back to normal you might say. I'd been drinking green juices and wheat grass and again about 3 litres of water.

I got a real feeling to the connection of the divine, and the strong sense to keep my body clean to allow this light in. Fasting accelerates this process by thinning down the cellular membrane which thickens due to the normal Western diet, sugar being the mane culprit. By fasting, the cholesterol and fungus which attaches it self the the cell is cleaned away, allowing for more bio cellular activity, thus bringing in more light into the cell.

I had a very late night, but I attended a beautiful ceremony in an enchanted garden, candles,a fire, acoustic musicians and song.

All headaches and fatigue are gone.

Day 4 of the 7 day fast

The better it gets ... the better it gets !

Again I woke this morning at 04:30am, and again I was wide AWAKE. My headache had totally gone, and my body was feeling really light and strong, I felt as If that I was not fasting. I went back to sleep and got out of bed at 06:00am. I skipped my morning juice as I was running a little late to work, so I downed a pint of water. At work through out the morning I was feeling really calm and productive. I was not fatigued at all and the morning past really quick. Again it was hot sunshine so I could benefit from the light.

Mid morning, I got a little emotional and I have to admit (the man that I am) that I had a little cry. An emotional release, showing how fasting also cleanse the soul. It felt really clearing to do so, and then I felt much more peaceful and joyful .. HAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !

I slept through my lunch break for an hour, and again skipped my green juice, so I think this was the reason for my energy dip mid afternoon, I felt quite slow and light headed.

I got to catch a juice late afternoon, and as I write this blog, I am feeling really centred and confident that this fast is going really well, and that my will power will continue. I am actually looking forward to feel how I feel on day 7, as it seems to be getting easier, although anything could change. I would say actually that my calf's and hamstrings are a little tight, this is something that I remember happening on previous fasts, but in the past it was worse by now. This is giving me the indication that I am cleaner this time around.

My weight today is 71kg so I have gained a kilo since yesterday somehow !

Tonight I am going to talk about the ' Secret of Nutrition' so I am interested to know what will be discussed.

Day 3 of 7 day fast ...

... Well, surprise surprise, I woke up this morning feeling fresh and WIDE AWAKE. I then looked at the clock and it was 04:30am. I decided to turn over and get some more rest, although the temptation was there to get up and meditate and practice yoga, but I didn't want to risk being exhausted through out the day.

My headache has totally gone, and my body is not heavy anymore, in fact, I feel like I'm floating. I drank pretty much the same as the last 2 days ~ Spinach, Fennel and Dill today, along with herbal teas and 3 litres of water, this seems to sustain me well. Working in the garden I get to have my shirt off, so I soak up a lot of the suns rays, which I am sure really helps with my stamina and spiritual nutrition in take. Smells have become really apparent, I was walking down the road and could smell all the different types of pollen from the trees, I have never noticed that before, well not as distinguished. So I visualized my self breathing in all the pollen to be nourished by it, as explained in the 'Anastasia' books, 'The Ringing Cedars', in which I highly recommend everybody to read.

My weight is 70kg which suggests I have lost another 2kg, again, this is not true (I am pretty sure)as there is no way I have lost 4 kg in 2 days, I surely do not feel like I have, plus all my cloths still fit. If I have, then welcome to my weight loss plan !

So day 3 is coming to a close, and I am ready for day 4. Last night I did dream about eating a Ham and Salmon Bagel ... hmmmm I don't want to eat one, and in my dream I felt really let down for eating it. I think it's just cellular memory dissolving out of me. The same thing happened when I stopped drinking alcohol a year ago. I fasted and then I dreamed of drinking beer, and it never gave me the desire to start drinking alcohol again.

Summary of the day : Started off flying, then a slow dip in the afternoon, and now I am back to flying ...

Day 2 of 7 day fast ...

... Well, it seems the games have started to begin !

I woke up this morning with a throbbing headache, and it has stayed with me pretty much all day, my body was heavy,especially my legs, so I was forced to sloooooooow down walking to work at 7am this morning.

I remembered that fasting forces one to be in the present moment,because when I wasn't... the heaviness would set in. When I brought my attention to present moment, which today was weeding tomato beds mainly, I would feel much better and relaxed. I actually didn't think about FOOD that much, it was just the heaviness I felt which was distracting. By 15:30 I started to feel a lot better, and right now ... I feel great again. The heaviness has lifted, the headache is very slight, like the feeling of it fading.

I drank 3 green juices today made of of Broccoli, Spinach and fennel, I don't know why I chose those vegetables ? intuition I guess. I also had 2 shots of wheat grass and a herbal tea. I drank about 3 litres of water too. My weight is 72kg which compared with yesterday I weighed 74kg, which suggests I've lost 2kg in 24 hours, which is not true, the scales must be out.

SO I am not as strong as yesterday, the toxins must be working their way into my blood stream. I'm not sure how I will feel tomorrow, it could go either way, as I feel pretty stable right now. I'm hoping to not feel heavy. I will practice some yoga postures before bed, to circulate my energy.

The first 3 days are always the worst, so I keep reminding myself of that. From the 4Th day onwards I should start to feel better as the accumulated toxins will be releasing from my body, and I should start to feel a little bit like Superman. It's common to feel super strong around the 7 Th day mark, people then sometimes decide carry on to a 10 day fast or even another week. I will take each Day/Moment as it comes.

1st day of 7 day juice fast

After the false start last week, I'm now up and on my way into my week of Spiritual fasting. What a great day to start on the Mid summer solstice. A day of high vibrational light activity, the longest day of the year, and a great day to start anew, make new intentions, set new goals, clearly see your vision and offer yourself to God, LETTING GO... to the divinely un folding of your life.

This week I am fasting from solid food. My in take will be 'Green Juice' water and herbal tea.

So today I completed my first day fasting...

How do I feel ? Well, 2 hours ago I was feeling quite frustrated and and irritated. SO I got myself onto the Yoga Matt and stretched all the tension out of me ... AND NOW ... I feel peaceful and inspired.

I worked today from 7am til 4:30pm in my Biodynamic garden, and Im really pleased that I didn't get fatigued at all. Maybe I will be tired over the next few days, normally the 3rd day of fasting is when MOST of the toxins are released into the blood stream, waiting to be cleaned out of the system. I did have a slight headache,although after my head stand for 7 minutes on the yoga Matt it went away. SO on the whole I am feeling pretty strong. I have not thought about food that much although I'm ready for last green juice of the day, before going to bed early (9pm).I have only had 2 green juices today and a shot of wheat grass, and mostly drank water. My body weight today was 74kg. This will probably drop a little but not to much, as I have fasted a few times before, so most of the BULK of my long term toxins have been rejuvenated already. My first fast I lost 20kg over the period of 2 months ...I had alot of waste to get rid of.For more info and inspiration, check back to last weeks post on fasting and watch the youtube clip...

I like posting youtube clips, for I feel they create a certain mood. This clip I am posting now, is how I am feeling right now, REALLY LISTEN to the words, as they remind me of what It feels like to fast. Protein Vs Athletes

When I is was working out in the gym, pounding the weights in my late teens to mid twenties, there were TWO key ingredients to my diet ... the first was CARBOHYDRATES and the second was PROTEIN. Carbohydrates gave me the energy for my work outs and the protein was eaten for recuperation and to build muscle. My enemy was FAT and SUGAR, since i wanted to show off all my hard work in the gym. I got my carbohydrates from cooked foods like rice,pasta,vegetables and fruit and processed energy shakes, and I got my protein from egg whites,chicken,tuna and beef steaks and processed protein shakes - The results were that i grew to about 100kg in body weight and I was stacked with muscle, but the question is WAS I HEALTHY ?

hmmm, well I looked healthy, but i still got very tired, i had mood swings, i would still catch illness, i craved sugar... and in my late twenties i CRASHED... WHY ??????? I have some suggestions ..... We have all heard by now the expression "You are what you eat" .... but i like to think "You are what your body can assimilate" and as an Athlete you want to be able to assimilate your food so that it can be used for MAXIMUM potential in order that YOU can become YOUR maximum potential. There is no point eating ANY food if your body cannot transfer that food into ENERGY, which as an athlete you need plenty of energy in order sustain yourself. SO WHAT'S RAW FOOD GOT TO DO WITH IT ?? ENERGY transfer happens on a CELLULAR LEVEL, studies from leading Raw food Guru and scientist Gabriel Cousens shows that eating TOO MUCH PROTEIN (including plant protein) thickens the cell base membrane, thus making it biologically harder for cells to take in nutrients and let out waste,making them less effective. So all my years of pounding in the protein to build muscle was actually making it harder for my body to absorb energy, because my cells were too thick (hence i crashed at 29).

Babies cells are very thin and porous, so that it can absorb all the nutrients needed to grow. Also, Gabriels studies have shown that the body cannot absorb animal protein as well as it can absorb plant protein. Animal protein is secondary, and an Athlete wants be No.1- not secondary. I used to have to eat 50% protein in each meal 6 times a day to build muscle and grow, it is interesting to know that our biggest growth spurt is when we are babies, studies show that breast milk contains only about 5% protein and feeds about every 2-3 hours, another sign that nature knows best. Protein also turns the blood ACIDIC, thus when the blood has too much acid its natural reaction is to balance that with something alkaline, its first point of call is Calcium, as this mineral is very alkalizing, the problem is that the calcium will be taken from the bones, this can then result in osteoporoses, not good for an athlete !!!! (green leafy salad is rich in calcium). Breaking news ~ Breaking fast

I'm sorry to announce that my 7day juice fast will have to be postponed until next Monday. The reason is that I have the opportunity to attend a day 3 workshop about 'Honey Bees and Flowers' this week, and I really want to go, and I really don't want to go whilst juice fasting. I'm really interested in bee's and especially bee pollen for it's life force and rejuvenation energy. SO in the mean time, feast your eye's on this ...

Bee pollen is such an amazing food. It is super rich in the 'B' vitamins including B12,amino acid, protein,very high in minerals and trace minerals, in contains 15% lecithin which protects the nervous system and brain against all kinds of radiation. Pollen is said to contain all the elements necessary for the sustenance of human life. Pollen is good for prostate difficulties, hemorrhoids, asthma, allergies, digestive disorders, curing intestinal putrefaction, multiple sclerosis, arthritis and hay fever and posses anti aging properties. Gram for gram pollen contains 5-7 times more protein then meat, eggs, or cheese. The protein in pollen is in a predigested form and therefore easy to assimilate.

Juice Fast Eve

Well, here I go ... 7 day juice fast coming up from tomorrow. Everyday I will document my experience. I have compleated 3 fasts in the past, although this is the first time that I will be working in my full time job as a gardener. This experience will show me just how I am truly supported and nourished ... without food, how does this happen ? The divine maybe ? Each day I will meditate and say my prayers. I will be praying for guidance for my spiritual evolution. Totally surrendering,forced to go within I will be asking the question "God, show me the way". It's that time of the year ...

.... The sun is shining and the day's are getting longer (in England). So that must mean one thing ... very very soon, the weather will be getting cold and the nights will be drawing in early. With that in mind, the summer solstice is just around the corner on the 21st of June. In celebration of this transition period I will be celebrating with a 7 day green juice fast .. whoop whoop. I will be writing each day on my blog about my experiences through the whole week. I will share what I drank, how I feel, and what the results maybe.... and any thing else which decides to show up !

I'm really looking forward to it, as it has been 8 month's since I did my last juice fast.

Flower Power

Hmmmmmmmmm where have I been ? here there and everywhere, up in the sky and far away, so now I'm back ...... feet in the soil, and hanging out with the flowers... eerrr Flowers ???

Moving into my new job and home, and basically moving into a whole new area of my life, once again I have been up rooted. It has taken me some time to adjust to my new arena, which made me think I was going a little crazy, BUT its all cool,' MY ASTROLOGER' told me it is all to do with Pluto and the Moon in my birth chart..... they are having deep dialogues about my life, although for me it feels like they are arguing and taken their time about it .... SO I just have to let it ride... and scream for HELP.

Well, I silently asked for help to the big man up stairs, and he sent a rescue team in the form of flower essences. The thought came in to my mind like this 'Ah, maybe flower essences could help me in this sticky situation, although, where would I get some from ?' ..... AND THEN .. a day later, I see a poster in big colours saying "Flower essence workshop, Tonight". If that was not God knocking at my door, then I am actually going crazy. SO yes of course, I went along to the event, to see what this was all about. It turned out that there were only two of us attending, so we both got some really great personal time with the instructors.

Now then, how do these flower essences work ?

Basically, each and every flower (along with everything else that exists) has a certain vibration in its being. In the 1930 Dr Bach discovered that each flower actually has a healing vibration which will help disharmony in human beings. He was very sensitive to these energies and tested them on his self and found the qualities to be true. They can help with anything from transitioning, to raising self esteem, depression, heart opening, muscle tension, relationship problems, nervousness, concentration, healing the past, staying present, period pains ......... the list goes on and on. The remedies are in tincture form and sold in little bottles. Each bottle of flower essence is highly concentrated with its the particular essence. It is diluted in water and preserved with a little alcohol, normally brandy or vodka. All that is required is to drop about 4 droplets of the remedy under your tongue 4 times a day, or as the specialist will prescribe...and that's it ... you then just let nature take its course.

So which did I choose ? There were around 100 different essences to choose from and 3 three different brands, all having lots of great benefits. I was advised to let my intuition guide me, by tracing my hand over the bottles and seeing which one I was attracted too... 'Really' I thought ! ... so i did. "Cow parsley !!!"......"no way!", I don't want to take anything to do with cow's I thought, as I randomly picked my first essence. OK, well let me see what it says in the book about it I mumbled to myself ... it went something like this... ' Cow parsnip essence is perfect for the person who is in transition in ones life, either moving place, house or new job. It helps people ground their roots when they have been travelling around from country to country, place to place !!! I paused, looked left, then right and then looked up and smiled, then grinned, then laughed. It was the perfect remedy for me, having just moved from the Arizona desert to the English countryside, moving into a new house and a new job, and plus having the whole Pluto/Moon thing going on ..... 'well how ironic' I thought ... there we have a Raw food vegan choosing ' Cow parsley' to help smooth out some bumps... good job Cow parsley is a beautiful white flower like satellites growing on a long stalk, which grows along the side of fields, in which I guess cow's like to chomp on given it's name, as I'm pretty sure it is not a type of cow. I intuitively picked four more essences, and all equally matched how I had been feeling lately. I gave my essences to the practitioner, who then diluted the five flowers into my little take away bottle.

And the Results ???

Holy Cow .... It worked ! Before I went to bed that night, I squeezed 4 droplets under my tongue and went to sleep. I had a dream of a fairy fluttering in the sky bringing me flowers as gifts. Then I woke up at 04:30am WIDE AWAKE feeling fresh as a daisy. My body felt really relaxed, as my muscles had felt stiff lately for some reason upon awakening, and it was like ' Oh, that's how I feel when I'm in shape, I forgot'. My mind felt really clear and sharp and I was really excited to go to work in the garden. My being felt really light and I felt really connected to myself, not off travelling somewhere. Could this be true ? so soon I thought. Well, I hadn't done anything differently apart from take this flower essence..... Abracadabra !
I have a month's supply, so I cant wait to see how I will be feeling through June. My Pluto/Moon story does not end until the end 2010 apparently, so I'm gonna discover what other remedies they have in store. check out http://www.blogger.com/type http://alaskanessences.com/

Come What May .....

Oh my, what an amazing three days I just experienced. With love, I joined in the with my new local tribes in an epic festival, celebrating ' Beltane' (I wouldn't recommend the food recipes on this site, although the explanation for the rituals are sound and resonate with me). The festival was called ' Wild Heart ' and we danced, shared stories and whispered poems of love around camp fires until the early morn. The scenery looked like that from the movie ' Brave heart' and it also had that ancient sacred feeling to it. The energy was created to rejuvenate the healing powers of the long lost ' Village ' community.

People came to teach and share different topics, all related in some way to the importance of civilization reconnecting with Mother earth, your home land. My heart couldn't help but open to the inspiration and possibilities of a new world. It reminded me very much of the series of books I have been deeply touched by called ' The Ringing Ceders' or more commonly known as ' Anastasia'. Not only do I recommend that you read these books .... but I INSIST that you read these books, for within them lay information which may change your life, and that of your children, and that of your children's children. These books will also ignite and re kindle your desire for love and will show you the reflection of how we relate to our sacred relationships, family, friends and even business .... nothing is left out ! . They hold the potential to awaken your true self and inspire you to be creative in ways that you never knew were possible.....

So, with that in mind, I feel that in those three days, I just experienced those books and their teachings, right here and now in this physical dimension, helping me to believe that such ways of living are totally possible .........its true ........ and its already happening .... !!!!!

The weather was harsh, raining and forceful winds whipped up tents, with the sun smiling now and then. These conditions out there in the open Fields, drew me back repeatedly to the ' Raw Food Tent' selling nutritional warming herbal teas mixed with super foods to give them that high vibrational kick, which was needed to heat up the body and restore the vigour in such weather conditions.........

and here is the simple drink which put the fire in my eyes on those cold days ..

2 tea spoons of Cacao
2 tea spoons of Mesquite
1 teaspoon of Maca
Dash of Cinnamon
Dash of Star anise
Dash of Cardamon
Dash of cayenne pepper
1 cup of warm water

mix in your favourite drinking vessel and feel the strength rise in you.

Back to work today in my glorious garden, it was another cold day, so I carried a jar of the same concoction as described above in my bag to sip on when feeling fatigued, and it worked a treat.

With fire in my heart, I wish you all Love and divine inspiration, and may we all connect back to our Mother land.

Oh Bloody Heaven ....

blood ! bloOD ! BLOOD ! Hey, whats blood got to do with it ???

For some reason the subject of blood has come up for me a few times in the last few weeks, so this gave me the impulse to share with you the question .. What does a 'Live Raw food' diet have to do with my blood ?

This is a HUGE subject, so I don't want to get too technical. My wish today is to pump some fresh inspiration into your blood stream, in hope that this information may flood your being and be remembered in your cellular memory.

I think a lot of people can already guess what some of the connections are between what we eat, and how that effects our blood. At the end of this blog I have posted a really great clip of Dr. Gabriel Cousens explaining this topic with some interesting visuals ..... before that ..... here are some reasons which get my heart beating and turned on to Raw foods......

1. pH balance - these are not just my initials, however they also mean ' potential hydrogen' ! And what does that mean to the Man on the street ... It's the classic 'Acid' or 'Alkaline' .. Ahhhh .. I see, well ... and ? Ideally your healthy blood pH level should balance some where between 0 and 14 on the litmus paper test (remember from school ?), like around '7' ish to be more exact. Cooked, sugar filled foods, alcohol, coffee, tea, animal protein, dairy and even too much fruit, all extremely tip the pH balance of your blood to become 'Acidic'. Your blood being too acidic is a major reason for a lot of ill health problems. Raw plant food is super 'Alkaline'. By eating mostly raw plant based foods, you radically stabilize your blood pH level, keeping you in the safe zone.

2. The Yogi's say ' Clean Body, Clean Mind' ... blood which is too acidic will become fungus filled. This will cloud and clump your blood, and in turn cloud and clump your mind .... Think about it ! (if your not too acidic to do so ) Also in Chinese medicine they say ' the mind is in the blood '

3. Plant blood which is called 'Chlorophyll' ( which gives it the green colour) is almost identical in chemical structure to that of Human blood. The difference being the central atom in Human blood is Iron and in Chlorophyll it is Magnesium. Chlorophyll has been researched to have a million and one health improving benefits.

4. ' Mosquito's do not breed a swamp ..... A swamp breeds mosquito's ' ....... indicating that if your blood is not clean .... it will not only be 'not clean' .... but it will ATTRACT more dirt. Mostly in the form of fungus .... its common to believe now that fungus in the blood can lead to CANCER !!!

5. My Dad had a heart attack last year and was then diagnosed with diabetes. (in fact it is very, very common that the diabetes is mis diagnosed first and then the heart attack knocks you off your feet). My Dad ate all the ' Acidic foods' under the sun. (Now he has changed his diet)

In the weeds .... !

Back when I was a bartender, we had a very famous saying which was " I'm in the weeds". This was code for " I'm really really busy on my side of the bar, and I'm not sure if I can handle it. PLEASE someone come and help me !!!! of course the cool bartender cannot say that out loud for the guests to hear, ( now I have let out the secret) hence he shouts to his other co bartender " I'm in the weeds".

This saying made me smile yesterday when I was in the garden clearing out the beds, in preparation for new planting ... Why ? because again, but now in my new life,this saying had come full circle and I was again ' in the weeds'. Only this time I was literally in the weeds, covered in stinging, sticky, dangly, stringy, strong green plants, which we call ' Weeds'. What is the difference between a plant and a weed ? maybe just the spelling !

I'm learning that weeds which grow in your garden are not just an annoying plant which can inhibit the growth of other plants because of their power, but they are in fact our ticket into the world of ' Super Foods '. We are accustomed by now to the ever increasing popular demand of super foods sold from all corners of the world like Maca, Cacao, Goji berries, Inca berries, Blue green algae, Camu camu and so on, which are all really amazing, high vibrational, condensed high powered mineral rich foods, which you can take to increase your vitality in one small hit.

BUT HEY ! ... what about going local ? weeds grow wild, free and are probably growing on your door step . There are so many weeds to share, so I intend to write them over a series of blogs, popping up here and there as weeds do, so you don't get too much too soon. Then you can go foraging for your own green powered super food to add to your favourite salads or dressings, and become strong as a weed.

Lets start with the ...

Chickweed - Named this because chickens like to eat it of course !

Where to find it ? - I found it spread all over in the green houses, growing wild in between many different plants. It can also grow out in the open on lawns, in sunny areas and in partially shaded habitats.

What does it look like ? - It grows low to the ground, forming mats around 16 inches long. It has small pointed oval leaves 1 inch long.

When can I find it growing ? - All year round... its a trooper !

Nutritional value ? - vitamins A,D,C and B complex and Rutin. Also in the mix we have iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, manganese, sodium, copper, and silica.

Medicine Magic ? Chickweed is really great for your skin, so get it in your diet to be radiant ! It can also be applied externally, chopped finely, added in a bandage for cuts, burns, rashes and eczema. Change the bandage often. It is also an old wives remedy for obesity

How to eat it ? you can eat it raw in salads or you can make a tea, by filling a 1/4 cup with chickweed, then add boiling water and let steep for 15 mins, then drink your brew.

here is my chickweed super food dressing - in a blender add ...

1 Avocado
1/4 cup olive oil
1 squeeze of lemon
1/4 cup Chickweed
2 table spoons of spirulina
pinch of salt

.... blend til smooth .... easy! Add to a salad to super charge it.

As soon as I found out about this amazing weed (last week), I have been eating it everyday, either wild or made as dressing shown above.

So there we have it ...... the first of many weeds you can now go and explore, pick and eat to add to your list of super foods.

I'm not just RAW ..... I'm WILD

Well, I've been back in the UK now for a little over a week. I had a little stint in London, then I had quick visit to see my family up North. I have finally layed my hat in a little ole place called 'Forest Row,' way out in the English countryside. This is where I will be calling home for a while.

It is here that I am learning to become a ' Bio dynamic' gardener at a Rudolf Steiner education school for life. There are lots of things that excite me about this course, but for now I cant wait to share with you that .......

........ Today was my first day 'on the job' training, and I am over joyed to say that with my new knowledge and skills, I can now eat literally 'Off the land'. With my own hands and love, I picked my lettuces, kale, parsnips and radishes straight from the rich nutrient dark soil with worms and all, then half an hour later it was washed and cleanly prepared, ready to eat from my bowl ,with a nice dose of spirulina dressing mixed with wild nettles and parsley ........ This means that the food I eat it is in it's highest vibrational force, which we like to call 'Biogenic'.

Lets take a look at the different levels of food and see how that effects their energetic states, and ultimately .. YOU !

1. Biogenic - straight from the ground to your mouth
Highest life force, which will increase your own life force and increase your SOEF (subtle organizing energy Field). This will give you a sense of renewal, raise your consciousness, reverse aging and regenerate your whole being.

What to eat - Sprouts, Grass juice, Fermented foods, Super foods, Wild Food .

2. Bioactive - straight from the ground - shop shelf - to your mouth
Healthy life force, which will sustain you and enhance the healing life force in your being.

What to eat - Fresh raw produce, Unprocessed.

3. Biostatic - straight from the ground-shop shelf - cooked/not fresh - to your mouth
Depletes life force, depletes SOEF and will diminish your bodily functions.

What to eat - Cooked and not fresh produce.

Fasting For Peace

Hello everybody, this post is a message which has been passed on to me from my community family at the ' Tree Of Life' in Arizona http://www.treoflife.nu/ . I wish to spread this message and share it with as many people as possible. It is VERY important !!! If you missed the latest news there has a been an eruption in Iceland from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. A magnitude 3.5 earthquake hit the volcano and eruptions have been causing 33,000 ft ash emissions. These Ash emissions have caused severe delays on most air travel in Europe and some international flights. Volcanic activity is not a speciality of mine, so I don't want write to much about what the nature of this means to out health ........... all I know is that when I was a child 'My Mother' would occasionally erupt on me and I would feel the full power of her feminine fire energy ..... this was because I had probably caused ' Chaos' (pissing her off big time, like the time my brother and I decided to launch apples at each other. We missed a lot of the time, so the whole house was covered in rotten splatted apples, not good!) and 'Order' was needed so that I would be natured and taught a lesson. I wonder .... Is 'Our Mother Earth' trying restore some kind of order from the 'Chaos' her children are causing to the planet ? Cause and effect is always an interesting subject. What are my 3 T tips ???

My journey to London being a 'RAW FOODIST'-
After a two hour flight from Tucson to L.A. I had to wait for a two hour lay over until my next flight to Washington D.C..Five hours flying from L.A. which included a couple of nice in flight movies got me into Washington D.C. at 00:30 local time.So far so good, you might say ! Now comes the HIT... I had to wait in Washington D.C. airport for NINE hours until my connection flight to London was ready. If you have never had to wait in an airport over night for a connection flight, here is a quick insight to what it is like ... it's EMPTY. Not just empty, everything is closed. Actually it was not totally empty, there were the cleaners and one other guy sleeping across three chairs opposite to where I decided to slip in a quick yoga session.To cut a long story short,where do the 3 T TIPS come into play ?

Coming straight from the ' Tree Of life' rejuvenation centre to England forced me to experience the 3 T's !!!

1. Travelling
2. Transitioning
3. Temptations

As in life, one can only plan for so much, the Rest is up to you know who ! TIP NUMBER 1- Travelling all that way, I new that I would not find raw food kiosks by the plenty, if any at all. Back at the 'Tree', I packed my bag full of raw food goodies including a bottle of cold Brazil nut milk, which I had to drink before getting past security (We are the modern slaves). In L.A. I finished off eating all my fresh'ish by now salad box, full of greens and avocado. So there I am, a TRAVELLING RAW FOODIE walking my talk ..and feeling great ! Here comes the catch ...... I noticed I now had 9 hours to wait in Washington D.C. airport with a 7 hour flight pending, and my raw food supplies were GONE.. Ouch !

This is where TIP NUMBER 2 comes in - Transitioning! So I had to make a quick decision, do I fast from food all the way, or do I take the hit and eat what is available to buy in the airport, and bless it with lots of prayers. Other wise I may not eat for 16 hours or more, and I was already hungry. Well, I took the hit, a small sacrifice one might say ( I know, I know, Jesus would of fasted). Breaking my 100% raw food diet, was a little sad for me ( This is were Jesus would of forgiven me), but It reminded me of the TRANSITION period which a lot of Raw food aspirants will come across, and this is my advice ...... ITS OK, you will not die ( not just yet) and stop judging yourself, we can only do our best with what we have got and where we are at ! It is far better for your BEING to transition in PEACE than it is to FORCE yourself to eat 100% raw food a 100% of the time.
So, with that in mind, I purchased 3 'nutritional nut bars' which advertised 'Power and energy'. I read the label of course, and there was nothing powerful about it, apart from the packaging which attracted me, although I may have received some kind of energy from the bars, which I guess was mainly sugars. It can take around 2 years to fully transition from cooked foods to raw foods and even then you may well be lead into....

Tip number 3- Temptations ! - Back in London, I was transitioning quite well, getting used to the busyness and pollution. I was enjoyably engaged all day on my first day back and didn't really eat that much at all, and then I realized this is where TEMPTATION creeps in.

So this is my tip... Try not to go hungry, because it is really easy to eat a quick junk food snack to tide you over until your next meal,and before you know it, one junk food meal, leads to one junk food dessert, and your vibration starts to decrease and attract everything that is junk, your will power will decrease and then the dark side will use this opportunity to steal your shining light.

My temptation came in the form of a pizza restaurant. When you're hungry, smells of cooked food will really get your gastric juices flowing. I even had a bag full of greens in my bag ready to chop and eat, but it still didn't stop me looking at the menu, to see if they had any vegan options. Finally I shook my head, and pointed for home to prepare my raw meal, eating most of it whilst making it. After finishing my sushi and salad, washed down with sunflower seed milk with maca and apricot, I was one satisfied human being, beaming with light. I also felt really pleased for taking that little bit of extra effort, which in the end made all the difference to the strengthening of my will power, kicking temptation into touch, although I'm sure it wont be the last time temptation strikes. Although now from my concious experience, I have my 3 T tips as a guide and reminder, and success will be that much easier.

The Temptation of Adam' :


1.When travelling, plan a head and pack lots of your favourite raw food to avoid hunger.
2.Don't beat yourself up in the transition period, REMEMBER peace is the way.
3.Follow the first two tips and temptation will not be an issue.

Waving goodbye with my bear claw

I could of stayed on my swinging chair out in the hot desert sun, listening to Snatam Kaur for EVER, although LIFE goes on, and I had to think about packing my bags, as today is my last day at the 'Tree Of Life' rejuvenation center. As I was walking down the dusty red mountain trail back to my dorm after breakfast, I was thinking how fast my three months stay here has been. At that very thought, a very small tornado whipped up the red dust in front of me, and swirled across to cut my path. I had to stop and smile as I acknowledged that as a reflection of my life right now.The wind blowing me into a new direction in which I have about as much control over as those small red dust particles being swept up by the vortex in the Angel of air.... all one can do is flow with it !

For my last shift at the ' Tree Of Life Cafe' I had to work the night shift, which I don't normally like to work. As I am learning what we resist shall persist, I quickly got over it, and as always when the resistance has been smashed, a miracle is born. So what was my miracle ???? ...... I learned from Kosan how to make RAW 'Bear Claws'. That sounds like another spiritual paradox, 'Live raw vegan food in the form of a 'Bear Claw'.... So how does that happen ? Well here is how ....


Pastry = 3 cups of soaked Almonds, 5 pitted soaked Dates,1/2 cup of ground Flax Date soak water

Filling = 2 cups of soaked Apricots or raisins, dash of Cinnamon,Lemon zest

Method for the Pastry - In a food processor, blend the almonds and the dates to make a paste. Then stir in the ground flax until you have a dough consistency. Split the dough into two balls. Roll each ball flat onto two texflex sheets, lets call them 'A' and 'B'. Sheet 'A' will be the base and sheet 'B' will be the topping.

Method for the Filling - Blend all ingredients in a food processor to reach a thick spreadable mixture.

NOW - spread the filling mixture on sheet the base( sheet A) evenly. THEN place sheet 'B' over the top of the base and filling to encase the whole mixture. Next cut the square into 9 small equal square portions (these are now your bear claws). Take the squares and with a knife slice four lines into the square as you would imagine a 'Bear Claw' to look like...

...And that's it !! Now all you have to do is place them in your dehydrator for about 8 to 10 hours, and your miracle will be born .. RAW LIVE VEGAN BEAR CLAWS.

Are you turned on?

Welcome to my Raw Soul!

Today I give birth to my first post out in the Arizona desert at the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center! I really look forward to sharing my passions and inspiring you with what inspires me. Next week, I will return to England to study biodynamic gardening for the next two years, in the countryside at the Rudolph Steiner school in Forest Row. Whilst I'm soaking up the sun and eating the finest raw food, I invite you to check out my latest article on the raw foods lifestyle in the March issue of Look magazine - the one with Cheryl Cole on the cover.
